List of General Events on July-1947

1- July-1947 Independence of India Bill passed.
1- July-1947 British Parliament passes the India Independence Act and fixes August 15 for the transfer of power.
13- July-1947 An Indian Independence Bill was moved in the British Parliament on 4th July 1947 which became an 'Act' on 13th July 1947. Two Boundary Commissions under Sir Cyril Radcliff were appointed to demarcate the boundaries of Punjab and Bengal.
18- July-1947 Indian Independence Act, signed by King George VI, was proclaimed as Indian Freedom Act, 1947.
21- July-1947 Indian Constitution Assembly accepted the tricolour flag as its National Flag. This flag is with three equal horizontal stripes of Saffron (Sacrifice), White (Truth) and Green (Prosperity) and a Chakra is superimposed on white (Dharma Chakra on the capitol of Ashoka's Pillar at Sarnath) in blue colour having 24 spokes. The ratio of the width to length is two to three.
30- July-1947 The part of Kashmir, North West Frontier Provience (NWFP), was swallowed up by Pakistan. The formality of raising the flag being done in November.
