List of General Events on June-1984

2- June-1984 Army takes control in Punjab as 22 people are killed in Sikh struggle for autonomy. The state is declared a restricted area under the Foreigners' Act.
5- June-1984 Operation 'Blue Star' was launched by Indira Gandhi. Indian commandos stormed into Sikh's holiest gurudwara Golden Temple in Amritsar to flush out the terrorists and other anti-government elements. Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and over 325 people were killed in the temple. Thus a great rebel arose all over the nation and specially in Punjab.
7- June-1984 Indian Army troops, sent to Punjab to quell Sikh violence, stormed the Golden Temple in Amritsar, the holiest of Sikh shrines. More than 400 persons were reported killed in the assault at the shrine, including Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.
11- June-1984 574 Sikh army deserters arrested.
